Sign for a day-trip to one of Bali’s most instagrammable spot ‘Gate of Heaven’ of Lempuyang Temple in east Bali. Set on the slope of Mount Lempuyang to overlook the majestic Mount Agung and the sea of Bali, the view here is dramatically stunning for which it is named ‘Gate of Heaven’. On the way back, we will take you visit Tirtagangga Water Palace and Tukad Cepung Hidden Waterfall.
The word Lempuyang derives from ‘Lempu’ meaning light and ‘Yang’ or ‘Hyang’ referring to God. So it literally means ‘Light of God’. This is one of Bali’s most important temple built dramatically across the majestic Mount Agung. As visitors come here, it gains another popular name as ‘Gate of Heaven’. This tour will allow you explore and find out yourself why. Wearing casual Bali dress is required to enter the temple which is made available by the local villagers at the temple entrance.
It was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangasem but entirely destroyed by Mount Agung eruption in 1963. Later it was lovingly rebuilt and restored with an authentic touch of royal magnificence. It demonstrates one of Bali’s finest architectural piece of work. It is a maze of pools and fountains surrounded by lush garden, stone carvings and statues.
Our last stop will be to visit Tukad Cepung Hidden Waterfall. It is approximately 1.3 hours drive from Tirtagangga. From the parking lot, we have to walk approximately 20 minutes to get to the waterfall which is beautifully set hidden within a canyon.
